FROM AVIATION STUDENT TO RESEARCH ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED AI & REINFORCEMENT LEARNING
Leadership Course completed
I completed my batallion level leadership course at the Commander and Staff Officer School in Lucerne, Switzerland. This advanced military training further honed my leadership skills and strategic thinking, which I continue to apply in my professional research career.
New Chapter at FHNW
Started as Research Associate at FHNW School of Business, taking on deputy project management of Innosuisse and FOCA funded research projects. Focusing on end-to-end machine learning pipelines and state-of-the-art AI algorithms. All with the goal to develop an AI that supports human decision-makers.
Promotion to Research Associate
Got my promotion to become a Research Associate at ZHAW School of Engineering, Centre for Artificial Intelligence. Took on more responsibilities including project acquisition, funding proposals, and teaching assistance, while continuing to develop machine learning pipelines and applying state-of-the-art algorithms in collaboration with industry partners.
Major three-year Innosuisse Project on Deep Reinforcement Learning
Finally got approved and startet a major three-year Innosuisse project on deep reinforcement learning for human dispatching with the world's biggest airport ground handler. This project marks a significant milestone in my research career, focusing on cutting-edge AI applications in complex, real-world environments.
Graduate the Master of Science in Engineering
Completed Master's thesis on "High Fidelity UAV Simulation Tool" in collaboration with Incluas GmbH.
Deep Dive into Intelligent Systems
Transitioned to Scientific Research Assistant role at the Institute for Data Analysis and Process Design at the ZHAW, focusing on "Intelligent Systems" for traffic and transport industry using simulation models and machine learning. Mainly developed vertiport simulations for Urban Air Mobility with leading industry partners.
Graduate the Bachelor of Science in Aviation
Completed Bachelor's degree with thesis "Masterplaning of Dock F" - verification and evaluation of mixed-design concept at Zurich Airport using agent-based simulation. Co-authored with my colleague Romario Odermatt we researched on a conceputal study for a new terminal at Zurich Airport to handle increasing passenger numbers with passenger predictions until the year 2050.
Aviation Industry Integration
Started at Zimex Aviation LTD as Crew Training Administrator, managing CrewDox training software implementation and integration. Gained valuable experience in aviation operations by a part-time employment in the Safety & Risk Department during my studies.
Bachelor of Science in Aviation
Began Bachelor of Science in Aviation (Technical Engineering) while completing mercantile internship at SBB Transport & Logistics.
Leadership Foundation
After completing recruit school, I completed leadership training at the officer training school in Bern and the subsequent practical course, during which I was allowed to lead a recruit school as a platoon leader. I developed important leadership qualities and discipline that would shape my future professional approach.
The Journey Begins
Started Grammar school in Wil, laying the academic foundation for future studies in engineering and research. The beginning of a passion for technology and systematic thinking that would define the path ahead.
